Frequently Asked Question(FAQ)

Egg freezing (oocyte cryopreservation) is a fertility preservation method where your eggs are extracted, frozen, and stored for future use.

People often consider it if they want to delay childbearing, are undergoing medical treatments (like chemotherapy), have health conditions like endometriosis, or simply want more reproductive flexibility.

The earlier, the better—usually between 30 and 35 is considered ideal, as egg quality declines with age. However, it’s still possible later, depending on your individual health.

Frozen eggs can be stored indefinitely. There’s no known limit to how long they can remain viable when properly stored.

It involves hormone injections for 10–14 days to stimulate the ovaries, followed by a minor procedure to retrieve the eggs under sedation.

Most people describe the process as uncomfortable rather than painful. Some bloating or cramping can occur during hormone stimulation and after retrieval.

Egg freezing can range from $6,000 to $15,000 per cycle, plus yearly storage fees. Some insurance plans or employers offer coverage.

Success rates vary by age and the number of eggs frozen. Younger eggs typically result in higher success rates during future IVF attempts.
